Above twenty five, and we have a problem with our weight. What&#8217;s more if we take that figure over thirty we&#8217;re defined as obese &#8211; over forty and the definition is morbidly obese.</p>
<p>To work out your own index &#8211; Make a note of how heavy you are in kilograms and how tall you are in metres. Take your metric height and square it. Then divide the answer by how many kilos you weigh.</p>
<p>For instance &#8211; say you&#8217;re 1.55 metres tall and you weigh 78 kilos, your index would be 32.5. The above illustration plainly shows that with those stats you would be designated obese.</p>
<p>If we persist with eating fatty and sugary calorie-laden food, we&#8217;ll never get a grip on our weight management. Smaller, higher fibre lower fat meals will help the body to metabolise the fat stores that have previously built up.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be tempted by miracle diets that promise massive weight loss in no time at all. A crash diet is any eating programme with less than 1200 &#8211; 1500 calories a day. Radical weight reduction can result, but it&#8217;s usually very short-lived!</p>
<p>Manageable healthy fat loss can&#8217;t be done in a couple of weeks. If you reduce your calorific intake by a fifth, there&#8217;s a good chance you&#8217;ll take off up to a couple of pounds a week. Although this won&#8217;t bring instant gratification, it should go some way to addressing your longer-term health issues.</p>
<p>Fatty foods tend to give us the biggest problem with weight management. Lower your intake of saturated fat then, and you achieve a noticeable reduction in calories. In its place eat more fresh vegetables and fruit. To fill up, try eating more wholemeal and grain. It won&#8217;t take long before you notice you&#8217;re actually feeling better.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not worth saving calories up for two meals a day. By the afternoon, you&#8217;ll be so hungry you might be tempted by chocolate or crisps. On the contrary, you should eat several small meals a day to prevent getting too hungry. It&#8217;s in fact more difficult to lose weight when you starve yourself. The body metabolises more when it receives frequent healthy portions of food. This leads to an efficient system of weight loss.</p>
